Those who who seek our help at FOOTPRINTS in the SKY are typically in need of routine, critical or life-saving care and cannot use commercial airline services or other means of transportation because of financial constraints, health insurance restrictions and medical issues.
PHONE INTERVIEW
We understand that no two cases are the same and will do our best to meet your individual needs.
If you are calling on behalf of the patient, please have at your disposal specific information regarding the patient’s medical situation and other pertinent facts.
MEDICAL APPROVAL
The patient is required to fill out an online Flight Request application, and when this and the required Flight Approval letter, signed by the doctor, is received, FOOTPRINTS in the SKY will begin its search for a donated flight. On average, this process will take approximately seven to ten days.
FOOTPRINTS in the SKY will communicate with the patient’s doctor and supporting medical staff to make sure the patient is physically and mentally able to travel on an aircraft. It should be noted that all patients on our charity flights must be ambulatory (able to walk and/or walk directly onto an aircraft).
ADDITIONAL NEEDS
FOOTPRINTS will also work with medical staff to help determine whether they require a Medical Escort, ground transportation or basic medical assistance such as oxygen or in-flight treatments.
